CCV an official player in OV-chipkaart project
Travellers to benefit from CCV’s participation in national launch of OV-chipkaart (public transport smartcard)
16 June 2009 – CCV, market leader in electronic payment systems, signed a contract last Friday at Trans Link Systems (TLS) in Amersfoort to participate in the OV-chipkaart (public transport smartcard) project in the Netherlands. This makes CCV one of the first official parties outside the public transport sector to become directly involved with the national OV-chipkaart roll-out. CCV’s experience in public transportation offers concrete benefits to passengers and travel product sales channels.
CCV’s new role as a partner in the public transport smartcard roll-out in the Netherlands launched by Trans Link Systems follows the distribution of the loading terminals to city public transport companies in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. CCV’s terminals are different from their competitors’ in that they allow passengers to not only add to their balance, but also purchase any other type of available travel products. Using CCV’s loading terminals has been made even easier by the fact that they have been put on special pillars so that they can withstand the heavy demands from rail and road traffic.
Gerben Nelemans, TLS Director, and Ton van der Bruggen, CCV’s Managing Director, officially confirming their participation in the OV-chipkaart roll-out in the Netherlands.
“This will change the way that passengers pay for public transportation. CCV’s equipment gives passengers a fast and easy way to add funds to their OV-chipkaart and receive travel tickets. Trans Link Systems’ participation in the OV chipkaart system is a key element in the successful implementation of the OV-chipkaart throughout the Netherlands,” says Ton van der Bruggen, CCV’s Managing Director.
“By signing this contract, CCV is able to independently participate in the OV-chipkaart scheme in regard to distributing and loading the public transport smartcards. We’re pleased with this important addition to the existing OV-chipkaart distribution network,” says Gerben Nelemans, Trans Link Systems Director.
CCV’s loading terminals can be installed at locations selected by public transport companies and local governments, including railway stations, tobacco and convenience stores, national chains, buses, trams and other public transport vehicles. Amsterdam’s public transport company is working to quickly increase the number of purchase and loading terminals in the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Passengers in that region can already use CCV’s loading terminals in Primera, Tabaronde, Tabaktief and Totaal Gemak stores.
EnzoSystems is an Almere-based company that provides the hotel and restaurant industry with self-service machines which allow customers to pay as well as check in and out. While developing the hardware for the loading terminals, EnzoSystems took into account the machine’s ergonomics and ease of use, safety, and susceptibility to vandalism. The device has also been certified by TNO and KEMA.

In addition, CCV provides payment systems for the retail and petrol industries as well as the public transport sector. CCV has also participated in a variety of acquirer and client projects using contactless payment technology for the petrol industry.
