Cashless. Contactless. Seamless. How CCV terminals are modernising payments in busses across Europe

CCV Payment in busses

In the world of public transport, speed, safety, and simplicity are everything. For operators and system integrators alike, digitising fare collection is not just a technological upgrade, it’s a strategic shift. At CCV, we’re proud to play a key role in this transition. Our payment terminals are helping operators across Europe modernise their bus fleets with secure, contactless ticketing solutions and full acceptance of all major payment methods.

A35 payment in busses

2,000+ buses in 5 months: The Netherlands as a testbed for smart mobility

In just five months, CCV terminals have been integrated in over 2,000 buses across the Netherlands. This large-scale rollout demonstrates not only the scalability of our solution, but also the growing demand for reliable, cashless payment systems in public transport.

Transdev - one of the Netherlands' largest public transport operators - is among the early adopters. Together with partners like system integrator Scheidt & Bachmann, we’ve equipped hundreds of their buses with our robust onboard payment technology. The result? Safer transactions, smoother boarding, and streamlined operations.

“We’ve seen a clear operational advantage since going cashless in our buses,” says a project lead at Transdev. “The terminals from CCV integrate seamlessly with our existing systems, and our passengers appreciate the convenience of contactless payments.”

Full Acceptance: giving passengers payment freedom

Every passenger has their own preferred way to pay. CCV makes sure all of them are supported, that’s why we offer Full Acceptance: contactless debit and credit cards, mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, and even traditional chip-and-PIN where needed. This gives passengers maximum flexibility and ensures no one is left behind. Especially in public transport environments with high passenger diversity an important factor.

Why safety and certification matter

Our terminals are specifically suitable and certified for use in buses, taking into account demanding environmental conditions like constant vibrations and temperature changes. This is more than just a box-ticking exercise: It’s about creating technology that operators can depend on, day in and day out.

By removing the need for cash onboard, CCV solutions reduce the risk of theft and aggression against drivers, which is a growing concern in many urban areas. Contactless payments also shorten dwell times at bus stops, improving traffic flow and the passenger experience.

Seamless integration through strong partnerships

A key factor in the success of our deployments is integration. CCV terminals can be connected to the bus-management systems, like the ‘IVU box’ from our German technology partner IVU. It’s a central control unit and already used by many operators. This allows for real-time data exchange and back-end synchronisation, supporting fare calculation, transaction logging, and system-wide updates.

We work closely with integration partners like Scheidt & Bachmann to ensure our solutions fit naturally into existing IT infrastructures - from ticketing software to driver interfaces.

Europe-wide availability and proven track record

While the recent rollouts in the Netherlands have put a spotlight on our solution, CCV’s payment systems for public transport are available throughout Europe. Whether you're managing a fleet in Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia, or beyond – our technology is ready to scale.

Our growing list of clients includes not only Transdev, but also operators such as Connexxion, Arriva, Qbuzz, and EBS, all of them are benefitting from secure, flexible, and future-ready payment infrastructure.
