iDEAL becomes Wero: new iDEAL | Wero logo from 29 January 2026

In the coming years, iDEAL will be completely replaced by Wero, the new European payment standard. The first visible step is the new iDEAL | Wero logo, which must be updated in every checkout between 29 January and 31 March 2026. 

What does this mean for merchants?

At CCV, we keep things simple:

• Hosted Payment Page / Smart Checkout → automatically updated
• Plugins → install the latest version
• Custom API integration → replace the logo manually within the specified timeframe 

What is Wero?

As communicated earlier, Wero will become the new European payment method, combining instant payments, strong security measures (including biometrics), and broad European coverage. 
The goal: a single, unified, faster and more secure way of paying online—without friction in the checkout.

Full transition from iDEAL to Wero

The transition to Wero will take place in phases. After the introduction of the new logo, the full migration from iDEAL to Wero will follow. This means that Wero will gradually take over the role of iDEAL, after which iDEAL will eventually be phased out.
