CCV PhonePOS with girocard receives the full AppPOS certification by Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft (DK)
We are thrilled to announce an important milestone for our CCV PhonePOS solution:
We are the first to pass the full AppPOS certification for PhonePOS. This marks a crucial step towards enabling official girocard acceptance on commercial off-the-shelf devices without the need for additional hardware or pilot agreements.
Both the security assessment and the functional tests were successfully completed in accordance with the regulations of the German Banking Industry Committee. The DK approval authority issued the full certificate on this basis. CCV PhonePOS is now entering regular operation for girocard acceptance, which significantly reduces complexity for our partners and customers.
Why AppPOS matters
AppPOS is the mobile POS solution standard for the girocard system and the equivalent of PCI MPoC, which were both developed for card-present payments for SoftPOS use cases.
Until recently, accepting girocard payments on COTS devices required special pilot agreements with network operators. Now, with the successful completion of the full certification process network operators and partners will be able to use PhonePOS with girocard without relying on temporary pilot frameworks. With the AppPOS certification CCV PhonePOS on a standard smartphone, tablet or enterprise device becomes a fully certified payment terminal and enables the secure acceptance of contactless girocard payments – even for amounts above the CVM limit.
This significantly reduces operational effort for our partners and streamlines the deployment across the market.
What is PhonePOS?
CCV PhonePOS is an innovative technology that enables businesses to accept contactless card-present payments through an app on a smartphone, tablet or other professional handheld device. The technology turns NFC-enabled Android devices into a payment terminal without the need for a dedicated hardware device. Customers can simply tap their debit or credit card or smartphone waller on the merchant's device to pay. PhonePOS is both MPoC and AppPOS certified, enabling secure pin entry for payments over the CVM limit. Originally developed for smaller merchants, the PhonePOS is increasingly being used by larger customers, such as in the logistics and retail sectors, and has been extended to meet the specific needs of larger customers as well.
