Get your payment terminal ready for the re-opening of your business!

Contactless payment

Your payment terminal went through a long period of inactivity. That is why we would like to give you a couple of practical tips for a smooth restart.

1. Start by re-commissioning your terminal. Below you will find the step by step instructions, depending on what type of terminal you have:

Mobile terminal

If you have a mobile payment terminal that has been inactive for a long time, your device may have gone into hibernation. It can take up to 48 hours before the battery and therefore the terminal is ready for use again. That is why we advise you to connect the terminal to the charger a few days before reopening your business. Do not worry if your terminal has been charging for days, the type of battery used for our mobile terminals is made for that!

Fixed terminal

Here too we recommend reconnecting your fixed payment terminal to the power a few days before opening. Did your payment terminal remained connected for several weeks without being used? Do not worry, simply disconnect the power supply/plug for 10 seconds and then reconnect it. The terminal will then restart and perform the necessary updates. After that, your device is ready to be used again.

2. Now let’s do the ultimate test to see that your terminal functions well and is ready to accept electronic payments.

Once you charged your terminal enough, your terminal is ready for a test transaction. If it succeeds, then your terminal is ready!

If your test transaction fails? Here is what to do:

Check 1:

Does my terminal still have connection to the internet?

If not, check your Internet connection.

Check 2:

You checked and your terminal have a good internet connection, but the test transaction is still not working. Do not worry, our service center is ready for you. Keep in mind not to wait too long to contact us, so we can schedule a replacement for you in time before you reopen  if needed.

If you follow above steps you are going to be ready to re-open, accept electronic and cashless payments as of day 1 without any issues and frustrations.

Below you will find 3 additional tips that we hope you find helpful when you now restart your business:

1. Promote contactless payment as much as possible. CCV, together with its industry colleagues, has ensured that contactless payment without a PIN code is now possible up to €50/transaction in BE, NL, GE and 80CHF in Switzerland. You can promote contactless payment via the flyer we designed.
2. Disinfect your terminal regularly. Use a damp cloth for this purpose. Be careful with liquids, they can cause internal damage to the terminal. Follow the detailed instructions and CCV has specific hygiene kits available for this purpose in our webshop. To purchase, please choose your region via our CCV home page.
3. Make sure you have enough paper for your terminal. You can order extra paper via our webshop, again choose your region on our CCV homepage to purchase.
